2nd Alarm Fire in Elberon Business District

Shortly after 10:00 AM this morning the members of Tour #3 responded to a report of a fire in a mixed occupancy building in the Elberon section of town. Upon arrival heavy smoke was showing from a 3 story building with residential apartments over a commercial business. Subsequently a 2nd alarm was struck bringing in off duty personnel and mutual aid from surrounding towns. First due companies observed a quick spreading fire on the exterior wall of the structure with exposure to a century old Firehouse, which houses a city volunteer company and first aid squad. Two hand lines were placed into operation and the interior walls were opened up revealing fire spreading in the void spaces and ceiling. The fire was ultimately contained to the first and second floors of the structure. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The members would like to thank all mutual aid companies who assisted.
