Early morning 2 alarm fire damages home in North Long Branch

January 20, 2018 –

At approximately 0315hrs early Saturday morning, the Long Branch Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire in North Long Branch. Upon arrival a 2nd alarm was transmitted for heavy fire showing from a two and a half story multi family dwelling. Multiple handlines and a ladder pipe were placed into operation by Engine 74 and Truck 91 darkening down the bulk of the fire before initiating and interior fire attack. An aggressive fire attack was made by Engine 74, Engine 75, Truck 91, and off duty recall personnel. The searches of the fire building proved negative for any trapped occupants. Crews performed extensive overhaul of the building extinguishing numerous pockets of remaining fire. Companies operated on scene for approximately two hours before the fire was completely extinguished. The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshals Office.
