December 28, 2017 –
Early Thursday morning Long Branch firefighters battled a working fire in the area of Third Avenue and Van Dyke Place. First due Truck 91 and Engine 74 found a 20’x30′ garage fully involved. A box alarm was transmitted bringing in additional firefighters. Two handlines were stretched and placed into operation by Truck 91 as Engine 74 established a water supply. First arriving firefighters were tasked with protecting two exposure buildings, while the fire was being extinguished. Firefighters operated in sub freezing temperatures for approximately one hour and thirty minutes before the fire was placed under control.
