Thursday, August 21, 2014 Numerous calls were placed for a reported fire in the Edgewater West apartment complex. Upon arrival, companies found that an underground transformer had exploded and was now on fire with exposure issues to a number of vehicles. Oil from the unit was also splattered around the area and traveling with some of it also on fire. Lines were stretched, buildings were evacuated as a precaution and JCP&L was notified and responded. City Emergency Management and Fire Bureau also responded along with a Monmouth Beach Engine for extra foam capabilities.
